COLNE boss Nigel Coates is calling on his fringe players to take their chances ahead of next weekend's FA Trophy-quarter final.
For Coates has made wholesale changes for tomorrow's NWCL Division Two Trophy semi-final firts leg clash against Cheadle Town -- and stoked up the pressure on his star players.
The Holt House boss has thrown down the gauntlet to a number of players to stake a claim for the FA Trophy match against Eastwood Town.
Coates said: "In the full context of things, the Division Two Trophy is the least important behind the league and FA Trophy. However, it is a chance for some players to stake a claim. It is up to them to prove to me that they are good enough to keep their place."
Kieron Roberts, Jason Heffernan, Danny Potts and Chris Ingham will all start in the first leg tie against Cheadle at Holt House and Coates says if they impress, they could keep their place.
With James Webster suspended and Scott Gizon out with a virus, Coates' experimental side will also get their chance to recover from the 4-2 defeat against Flixton on Tuesday.
"It's all very well playing well in the FA Vase but you have to do it in the nitty gritty of the league as well," added Coates.
"I was disappointed with the way we played on Tuesday so this game is a chance for us to get it right."
