BOB Wilcock hit the nail on the head (LET, January 28) and all drivers will agree with him. Some years ago, mini roundabouts sprang up overnight like mushrooms in Blackburn. Motorists soon realised that traffic flowed more smoothly with them.
The council then decided to create a traffic light department, hence the increase of robot lights.
At the junction of Bennington Street/Audley the council removed two mini roundabouts and replaced them with a mass of traffic lights.
For the record, last Friday at 3pm it took my wife and I 12 minutes to get from Penny Street to Darwen Street Bridge. I don't know how the emergency services cope in rush hours.
F CROMPTON (Mr), Lightbown Street, Darwen.
