FORMER Ewood favourite Colin Hendry will take his first major step into management later this spring -- and the man commonly known as 'Braveheart' admits he is already apprehensive!
Hendry will become a boss for the first time when he takes charge of team-affairs at Ewood at the end of the season.
But don't worry folks, the former Scotland captain is not about to oust Graeme Souness from his post as manager of the Rovers' first team.
Instead, Hendry has agreed to lend his support to Football Aid for a special charity match at Ewood Park on May 18.
And the Rovers legend is all set to go head-to-head against his former Blackburn team-mate, Kevin Gallacher, who will act as the manager of the opposition on the big day.
"It's my first managerial appointment," said Hendry.
"I'm very nervous but I'm looking forward to it.
"It should be great fun, especially for those punters who'll get the chance to live a dream."
Football Aid offers fans throughout Britain the chance to realise a dream by playing in a match at their favourite team's venue with the overall aim of raising money for charity.
Rovers supporters are being invited to bid against each other for the opportunity to appear at Ewood under the careful eye of Hendry and Gallacher, who will act as celebrity managers for the day.
"It's a great way of raising money," said Hendry.
"The good thing is a lot of the punters out there look at the football club as part of their family.
"The team they support is a big part of their life and this is a great chance for them to get involved in it."
While Hendry is preparing to make his bow in management, Gallacher has previous experience having taken part in a similar game last year.
"It's a fantastic idea," said Gally.
"I was fortunate enough to take part in it last year and I had a great time."
Any fans wishing to bid for a place in one of the teams can do so now on line at www.footballaid.com.
