RAY Wilkins breathed a huge sigh of relief after Alan Moore's last-gasp miss spared Millwall a trip to Turf Moor.
The Lions assistant boss believed his side earned their quarter-final place after stepping up the pace after the break.
But he admitted his thoughts had already turned to a replay when Clarets substitute Moore glanced his stoppage time header wide of a gaping goal.
Wilkins said: "It was pretty hectic stuff towards the end and we made it extremely hard for ourselves.
"I think Burnley were probably the better side in the initial period, but we came through and showed an immense amount of character.
"We dominated the second half, but they had that chance and really we should have been going back to Turf Moor if I'm honest. I think we call that a sitter in our game!"
Wilkins praised referee Howard Webb for his handling of a fiercely competitive FA Cup tie that often threatened to boil over.
He added: "It's a blokes' game and that's what it's all about, physical contact."
