AFTER two home defeats in a row and a reshuffled line-up, Padiham battled hard for their 1-1 draw against Great Harwood Town at the Arbories last night.
Ian Whittaker gave the Storks the lead in the 17th minute after John Harrison played in James Gill. The wide player sent in a low, hard ball across the face of the visitors' goals into the path of Padiham's busy midfielder, who tucked the ball into the Harwood net from close range.
Peter Smith, who had been the visitors' danger man all night, took advantage of a mistake by the home defence on the half hour mark and equalised with an angled shot into the corner of the goal.
Both sides had further chances before half-time with Padiham aggrieved not to get a penalty when Ian Pilkington was clumsily challenged by Parr inside the penalty area.
At the other end, Smith was denied a second goal by an excellent save from Storks keeper Paul Barker.
In the second half both sides had half chances with Great Harwood coming the closest to grabbing a winner with a shot against Padiham's crossbar.
