CHARITY champion Edith Willcock's fund-raising concert in memory of a friend raised £915 for the oncology unit at Wigan Infirmary to help cancer sufferers.
Following the death of Mabel Chambers from leukaemia, Edith was approached by her son, David, to work her fund-raising magic.
Edith organised a concert starring Tony Berry of Houghton Weeavers fame in Hindley Conservative Club.
Edith, of Walthew Lane, Platt Bridge, who has raised thousands of pounds organising dances to help Leigh and Wigan charities, said: "The sell out concert was enjoyed by everyone and Tony gave a brilliant performance. The total raised was great considering the audience limit is 150 people."
