RESIDENTS in Bacup and Stacksteads are being urged to take up the offer of a free review of their home security.
The Fightback crime reduction scheme was launched by Rossendale Community Safety Partnership three years ago, and offers residents an assessment of their security arrangements.
Under the scheme, any work needed to secure doors and windows is done free of charge by a qualified joiner.
The scheme, funded through the Single Regeneration Budget, has two years to run, and the Partnership wants as many people as possible to benefit. Residents aged 55 and over and living in Bacup and Stacksteads are being targeted.
Community Safety Officer Trish Ellins said: "Fear of crime can affect people from all walks of life, however, surveys show that older people are often more susceptible.
"With this in mind, we are actively encouraging residents in Bacup and Stacksteads with an OL13 postcode, and who are aged over 55, to contact us and arrange an assessment."
Call Hannah Dale in the Community Safety Department at Rossendale Council on 01706 244786, between 10am and 4pm on weekdays.
