COMMUNITY campaigners are aiming to create a cleaner, greener Golborne -- and they want residents to help them do it.
The new Golborne and Lowton Township Forum is spearheading efforts to make the area tidier after figures revealed it has one of the worst litter problems in the Wigan borough.
Now a special sub-group has been given the job of finding suitable locations for 15 new litterbins and 20 trees. The group also wants to identify areas which would benefit from a clean-up, including alterations to landscaping to reduce litter traps created by prickly shrubs.
Fiona Whistlecroft, forum vice chairman, said: "Some community groups are already doing wonderful work to improve the environment of Golborne and Lowton for everyone. We want to work with them and build on their successes through the 'cleaner, greener campaign."
