A BUDDING rugby star has received a signed rugby ball from his hero - World Cup winning hero Jonny Wilkinson.
Eight-year-old Leon Williams of Rothesay Road, Blackburn, had received a hand-written letter from Jonny after his grandmother wrote to the superstar about Leon's love of rugby.
The youngster then sent a ball to the England champion and Jonny, left, who kicked the winning points for England in their 20-17 World Cup final victory over Australia, autographed it and sent it back with a special message of support.
Leon's grandfather Mick Walmsley said: "It was very thoughtful of Jonny. He wrote on it wishing Leon all the best with his rugby.
"Leon is really happy, he is like a dog with two tails."
Leon plays rugby for the under eights team at Blackburn Rugby Club and is coached by his father Mike Williams who plays for Blackburn's third team.
The signed ball will now be taking pride of place in the Williams' display cabinet.
