ACCRINGTON Stanley officials have decided to take innovative action to avoid pre-match crowd congestion.
Problems have arisen this season with home supporters taking their place in the Clayton Terrace ahead of kick-off, as that is goal Stanley prefer to attack in the first half, but moving to the Coppice Terrace opposite if the Reds lose the toss and have to switch ends.
As there is rarely segregation at the Interlink Express Stadium, home and away supporters are allowed to move freely around the ground.
However, this has led to chaos on kick-off with fans on the front rows of the Main Stand unable to have a clear view of the game until the supporters walking past them have dispersed.
But those problems look set to be resolved when Stanley entertain Northwich Victoria on Saturday as the toss will be made 30 minutes before kick-off.
Information about which way the sides are kicking will then be displayed outside of the turnstiles and announced on the public address system so supporters can get settled ahead of the game.
The club has revealed that the idea has the approval of the Nationwide Conference as long as both teams and the referee are in agreement.
