Clitheroe 4 Atherton Colls 3: ATHERTON Collieries came within a whisker of upsetting North West Counties League leaders Clitheroe.
Alan Lord's side led three times at Shawbridge before losing to a goal in the last five minutes.
Mark Denham fired Collieries ahead in the 13th minute, but Lee Cryer equalised within 60 seconds.
Dave Conlon restored the visitors' lead from close range, before Whittingham headed Clitheroe level again.
Anthony Johnson's penalty two minutes into the second half made it 3-2 to Collieries, but they could not hang on, as goals from Parkinson and Stansfield secured victory for the home side.
Westworth is LR goal hero
Atherton LR 1 Congleton 1: MARK Westworth's second-half equaliser gave Atherton LR a deserved NWCL First Division point.
Westworth headed in a 62nd-minute corner to break Congleton's resistance after keeper Matt Conkie had made several fine saves.
It was Rovers' reward for concerted second-half pressure after they had gone behind to a Michael Scully volley in the 12th minute.
A LATE own goal gave Daisy Hill a 2-1 win at Winsford United in the NWCL Second Division.
