THE best earner yet is for a council to charge people to park in their own street. This is laughingly known as 'Residents Only' parking.

In the area around Blackburn Royal Infirmary there is a constant stream of cars parked without the necessary permit. This seems grossly unfair and, despite complaints, this will never change in the life of the infirmary.

Complaints to politicians are to no avail as the situation (they say) will improve next week, next month, next October, sometime.

Traffic wardens are seen but very rarely, not twice daily as would seem logical.

In a recent conversation with locals one woman said she thought she saw a warden last week. Her friend said she saw a squirrel walking down Manxman Road last Tuesday.

This is an indication of how many times wardens are spotted.
