DAVE Challinor and Jon Daly look set to return to Stockport County at the end of their current loan spells.

Striker Daly, and central defender Challinor in particular, have both played influential parts in the Shakers' revival in recent weeks.

The club was in freefall on a run of eight consecutive defeats until former Tranmere Rovers stopper Challinor came to Gigg Lane while Daly arrived a game earlier.

Since his arrival Graham Barrow's men have boasted four clean sheets in the five subsequent matches, winning two, drawing two and losing one of those fixtures.

But it would appear both players will be ready to return to Edgeley Park after the end of their second months with the Shakers according to articles in the Stockport press.

Challinor has said that both he and Daly have decided to return to Sammy McIlroy's Second Division side to sort out their futures.

That means the defender would have another four games in a Bury shirt with Daly set for another three.

Barrow has been delighted with Challinor's input at the back and it's no secret he'd love to have the defender at Gigg on a full time basis.

"There's no doubt in my mind that if we'd have had Dave with us all season we'd have been in the shake-up," he said.

"He's just the kind of player you can build a team around and has done superbly for us since he came."

"Sometimes loan players can be a gamble because they don't have their hearts in the club.

"But they have been outstanding for us."
