I FEEL sure that most residents of Heysham will be horrified to learn that the England First Party, which promotes racism and extremism, is putting forward a candidate in the Heysham South by-election.
I assume that its candidate Paul Bamford, as a student of politics, has read about the rise of fascism in Germany during the 1930s. We can read too.
It may be Mr Bamford's democratic right to stand for election, but he is promoting the very opposite of democracy.
We should learn from the mistakes of the past. Let us celebrate the richness and diversity of culture in Britain today - we residents only gain.
Jan White, Heysham.
