YOUNG rugby stars from Lancaster Royal Grammar School are within 80 minutes of reaching a national cup final.

The school's first team rugby players have moved into the semi finals of the Daily Mail Under 18 Cup - the most prestigious schools' knockout competition in the country.

Lancaster RGS beat Northampton School for Boys 24-6 at neutral Castlecroft to reach the last four - making up for having their effort blocked by a blizzard a week earlier as the match was abandoned when they were leading 10-0.

Left winger Selorm Kuadey used his pace, power and elusiveness to score two tries, with number eight Laurence Boot and scrum half Aaron Coldwell helping to finish off an impressive afternoon's work by the Lancaster team as they crossed the whitewash for further five-point scores.

Lancaster will now face Colston's at Castlecroft on March 6 for a place in the cup final.
