I KNOW Arthur Gnohere was a fans' favourite, but you only become that by performing on the pitch and in my book, the king's crown slipped a long time ago.

When he first came to Burnley, he was enthusiastic, the right age, had confidence on the ball and looked the part for quite a few months.

Then, all of a sudden, Arthur went off the boil and became a liability. He started making schoolboy errors and that often ended up costing Burnley games and points.

Stan ended up wondering what package he had landed himself with and has now thankfully moved him on.

He was a calamity at times towards the end of last season and almost every time he touched the ball he cost us a goal.

One incident at the start of last season speaks volumes for me. Against Brighton he stuck the nut on somebody and that is something you shouldn't be doing as a so-called professional. It was downright amateurish behaviour and sometimes he had the habit of letting himself fall to this level.

After losing Drissa Diallo last summer to today's opponents, Ipswich, Stan must have hoped Arthur would come back this season in the right frame of mind to act as a ready-made replacement.

That hasn't happened though and I'm quite glad to see the back of him. Whether QPR can get the best out of him remains to be seen, but I think the Second Division is more the level at which he was operating.

However, it now leaves Stan with the problem of only having two out-and-out centre backs, which is a huge risk unless someone is set to come in to replace Arthur.

Stan has taken that gamble and we are certainly vulnerable in the meantime. Sod's Law usually intervenes at these junctures and you lose one of the defenders through injury or suspension. One can only hope that's not the case.

Certainly tomorrow's visit of Ipswich is vital. It's going to be another hard game, but draws are becoming of little use.

It's wins the Clarets need now to keep at arms length from the drop zone and with only eight home games left, those wins have to start coming sooner, rather than later.

There is certainly more than enough quality left at Stan's disposal and we have the firepower to score the goals needed to ease the worries.

But I really feel the key man in the run-in could be Luke Chadwick. His toe injury is well documented and I don't feel we have seen the best of the kid in the last few months.

But he helped transform the game in the league win over Gillingham and I'm sure now he is over the worst and looking to end the season on a high.

If he, and Burnley can do that, I'm sure we'd all feel a lot happier.
