TOP high street retailer -- Wilkinson -- are set to bring around 80 jobs to the Fylde coast after earmarking Cleveleys as the latest addition to their network of UK stores.

The 12,000 sq ft store, based on Nutter Road in the town, is set to open its doors with a 'Family Fun Day' planned for later this year.

More than 80 new jobs are set to be created by the move which is expected to bring a share of Worksop-based 155 million customers a year to the area.

Store manager, Andy Whittle said: "We are delighted to be able to bring Wilkinson value for money family shopping to Cleveleys and very much look forward to welcoming new customers to our store.

"Our unbeatable mix of popular brands and high quality 'Wilko' own brands of everyday items for the home and garden has made Wilkinson one of the fastest growing retailers in the country and Cleveleys will help ensure we remain Britain's best loved family shopping experience."

The Cleveleys store is not the only Wilkinson site in the Fylde coast and surrounding area.

The family firm already own two successful stores on Dickson Road, Blackpool, and Friargate, Preston. Details of employment opportunities with the new store will be available from the Thornton Cleveleys Jobcentre later this month.
