HAVING read the story headed 'Second to last!' in the January 22 edition of Blackpool Citizen, I should like to make it clear that Royal Mail is combining first and second deliveries into one delivery a day, not scrapping Second Class mail.
Conservative Parliamentary candidate Ben Wallace's comments were misleading when he was reported as saying that 'Fleetwood became the first Fylde town to lose the Royal Mail second class service.' This is not the case.
First Class mail and Second Class mail are Royal Mail products and there are no plans to scrap either of them.
We aim to deliver First-class mail the day after posting and Second Class mail three days after posting (or earlier). Each day, customers across the country receive both First and Second Class mail and will continue to do so.
It is only the time of the day the delivery arrives which may change with the new system.
