A 36-year-old man had to be handcuffed after taking a swing at a police officer, a court was told.
James Stuart Smith, aged 36, of Grosvenor Street, Prestwich, admitted at Bury magistrates court a charge of behaviour likely to provoke violence.
Lynn Sayers, prosecuting, said policemen were called to a dispute in Grosvenor Street and spoke to Smith who had been drinking. Officers advised him about his behaviour. He later approached a policeman, swore at him and threw a punch which missed. The magistrates fined him £150 with £43 court costs.
