BLACKBURN Rovers have been dealt a double injury blow with hamstring injuries to skipper Garry Flitcroft and in-form striker Jonathan Stead.
Both players pulled up in Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Charlton Athletic and they were due to undergo scans today in a bid to access the full extent of the damage.
According to Rovers boss Graeme Souness, Stead "felt his hamstring rather than pulled it" so his injury isn't thought to be serious, although he may still miss this weekend's Premiership encounter with Southampton at Ewood.
Flitcroft, meanwhile, limped off after 27 minutes on Saturday and Souness is sweating on his fitness in the build up to the Saints clash, particularly after the Valley defeat left his side just five points above the relegation zone.
They lost in chaotic and cruel circumstances as Dane Claus Jensen scored with the last kick of the game just seconds after Brad Friedel had sensationally scored an equaliser.
The goalkeeper completed Blackburn's comeback from 2-0 down, as he slotted in a rebound from a corner to add to Andy Cole's earlier strike.
Rovers Reserves face Liverpool tonight (7pm) at Chester City's Deva Stadium.
The squad is: Enckelman, Donnelly, Gresko, Andresen, Taylor, Johansson, Morgan, Johnson, Jansen, Nelson, Watt, Hawkins, Yelldell, Black, Weaver, Mackay.
Rovers Youth face Gillingham in the FA Youth Cup fifth round tomorrow at Morecambe FC (7pm).
