BOFFINS announced that a suspected 'mini-earthquake' which hit East Lancashire shaking windows and rattling doors was probably due to an atmospheric explosion or low flying aircraft.
The mystery tremors which brought a flood of calls from worried householders was probably not the result of earth movements, according to a scientific officer at the Institute of Geological Sciences in Edinburgh.
Blackburn photographer Paul Deaville also won two major awards at the Institute of Incorporated Photographers (North West region) awards night.
