ALERT Security's managing director Trevor Shanley had more than one reason for celebrating winning the Workforce Development Award.
Having just celebrated his 10th year in business, just a week ago, Trevor is also looking forward to the birth of his baby with fiance Nicola Magnall.
Former apprentice electrician Trevor, who set up Alert Security as a 19-year-old, said: " I didn't think we would win. I am absolutely amazed.
"I set up this business 10 years ago in my parents' home with just two desks and a Maestro van, so to get this recognition is brilliant.
"We only found out that we had been nominated about two weeks before the actual awards night but I thought one of the other companies who had been nominated would have won it instead of us.
"I never win anything. I have only ever won £10 on the Lottery in 10 years.
"This is fantastic for everyone at Alert. I owe it all the staff. If it was not for the lads we would not have got through the past two years.
"They have all worked really hard.
"This is brilliant for staff motivation.
"It shows that we are committed to training our staff."
Alert Security, based in Wiseman Street, Burnley, has a team of 13.
The core of the business is the design, installation and maintenance of electronic security systems for the residential and commercial market.
The systems include monitored intruder alarms, smokecloak, CCTV and access control.
New areas will be developed this year including health and safety, lone worker systems and investment in remote monitoring of CCTV.
The company has a policy of taking on two apprentices every two years.
