IN THE run up to National No Smoking Day on March 10 a new series of groups to help people give up are starting in Blackburn with Darwen and Hyndburn.
Peter Pendlebury, of the Smoking Cessation Service, said: "These groups would be ideal for people who are intending to stop on No Smoking Day.
"They would give smokers the opportunity to prepare for their quit day with help and support from are specialist advisers."
Sessions which run for six weeks provide attendees with all the information they need to stop smoking.
The free service includes information on the health implications of smoking, advice on breaking the habit, and also on beating the nicotine addiction.
Carbon monoxide testing can also be carried out.
The first weekly group starts today at Accrington Road Community Centre, Blackburn, from 9.30am-10.30am.
Tuesday sessions are at Darwen Leisure Centre, off The Circus, from 10am-11am; Audley Community Centre, Chester Street, Blackburn, from 6pm-7pm, and Surestart, Norfolk Grove, Accrington, from 6.30pm-7.30pm
On Wednesday there is a meeting at the New Era, Paradise Street, Accrington from 6.30pm-7.30pm.
Sessions on Thursdays are at Ardley Day Centre, Bent St, Blackburn, from 6.30-7.30pm and at Darwen Health Centre, Union Street, from 6.30pm-7.30pm.
Saturday sessions are at Blackburn Library, Town Hall Street, from 11am-12pm.
