A 57-YEAR-OLD Blackburn man gave false details to a police officer who stopped him for a routine check - because he knew he was wanted in Durham for offences committed four years earlier, a court was told.
Brian Walton, of Shakespeare Way, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two offences of driving while disqualified, dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol, all committed in the North East in April 2000.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody in 2000 and resisting a police officer, as well as driving other than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance or a test certificate and using a car with a bald tyre.
The case was adjourned until March 18 so the court could have details of his driving record.
Peter Wilde, prosecuting, said the Durham incidents started at 4.20pm when a witness said Walton "tailgated" him for about a mile before undertaking. As Walton pulled back into the outside lane he clipped the front of the other car, before he undertook another car and pulled off the A1M. He was followed by the driver of the first vehicle and eventually arrested on a pub car park.
An hour later, he was again seen driving on the A1M and was found to have been drinking.
