I READ with interest your article on speed traps (LET, February 18). I had the misfortune, a few weeks ago, to be caught on camera on Whitebirk Drive, Blackburn, travelling at 35mph.
For the offence I was fined £60 and had my (clean) licence endorsed with three penalty points. Some readers take the view: "If you commit the crime, pay the fine."
The point I wish to make is that made by Mr McArthur-Christie of the Association of British Drivers when he asked: "What about dangerous driving, careless driving, poorly maintained vehicles, drink driving, drug driving and a number of more serious offences?
The police and local authorities must think we are a soft touch!
