SYLVESTER is living proof that curiosity does not always kill the cat.
But the prying moggie certainly used up at least one of his lives when he survived seven weeks trapped in a wall cavity.
His owners, who live in Higher Summerseat, had almost given up hope of seeing their family pet again after the four-year-old cat went missing.
Frank Anslow said: "We had put up posters up asking if anyone had seen him. But we heard nothing.
"Then seven weeks later our next door neighbour woke us at 1.30am saying he could hear crying coming from the wall. It seemed as if Sylvester had got through a small opening.
"I managed to drag him out of the cavity by the scruff of the neck. The vet said Sylvester had survived by licking the water off the walls. He had lost a lot of weight but he is eating like anything now."
Mr Anslow added: "It's unbelievable he survived seven weeks."
