DESPITE a much improved performance, Chorley Lynx suffered their heaviest defeat in the Arriva Trains Cup against last season's runners-up in the race for Super League.
Tries from Paul Rowley, David Alstead, Andy Isherwood (2) and Mike Callan, all converetd by Neil Turley, gave Leigh a 30-0 lead at the interval.
Lynx started the second half much the better team and were rewarded with a try in the 42nd minute from Chris Newall after Lee Patterson had broken from inside his own half.
David Larder touched down for Leigh but a try from Eddie Kilgannon and conversion from Brian Capewell out Lynx on the scoresheet again.
This was as good as it got for Lynx as Leigh powered over for five more tries from Isherwood, Callan, Oliver Wilkes, Steve Maden and Ian Knott. Turley added a further two conversions to complete the victory.
