PUPILS at Mansfield High School are taking part in a day of dance, drama, music, art and media.
Artists have been invited to the school to work with Year Nine students in a series of workshop sessions.
In the art rooms, pupils will have a go at activities including fabric printing, puppet making and in the music rooms they will be learning about African drumming and gospel singing.
The drama studio will be given over to mask work and the media students will learn the art of film-making in a workshop run by former student Daniel Armitage.
The day will culminate in a live performance for Year Seven pupils by all the students taking part.
The event has been organised and co-ordinated by the visual and performing arts department and Russell Tennant, arts development officer for Pendle, has helped provide the funding to make it happen.
Head of department at the school Miss Hurst, said: "This is the second year we have run this event. It is designed to be an introduction to a whole range of new experiences.
"The workshops are fun and exciting and they should give the students an insight into many, varied leisure activities and, maybe, even a future career path."
