A TEENAGER, who smashed a man's collar bone as his victim made his way home from a Christmas night out, could be facing jail.
Lee MacDonald, 18, was committed on bail for sentence to Burnley Crown Court by the town's magistrates who said their powers of punishment were not sufficient.
MacDonald, of North Street, Colne, had earlier admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm, last Dec 28.
Elizabeth Read, prosecuting, told the court victim John Paul Marshall suffered an unprovoked attack.
He had been out for the night in Colne and in the early hours was with a group of people including his girlfriend.
He had had eight pints of lager and was "merry."
Mr Marshall left the Tower Bar and as he got near the Jobcentre, the defendant, who knew his girlfriend, approached him and hit him for no apparent reason. Mr Marshall was struck on the left side of his face and couldn't remember what happened from then on.
Graeme Tindall, defending, urged the court to adjourn for an all options open pre-sentence report.
He said there was a history between MacDonald and the aggrieved.
