RAMSBOTTOM UTD...5
ATHERTON LR...2
THE Rams completed the double over the two Atherton sides inside four days with the demolition of Laburnum Rangers.
The visitors welcomed back star striker Ben Obong after a brief spell with St Helens Town, a striker who hit a hat-trick when the original fixture was abandoned due to snow and Atherton led 4-2.
But there was never any danger of a repeat of this as Matt Swailes, Lee Buggie and Iain Dyson made it 3-0 in the first half.
On 48 minute,s Gareth Gardiner received the ball on the left wing and after cutting inside a couple of defenders, unleashed a low drive from the edge of the penalty area that nestled just inside the right hand post, again giving Flood no chance of keeping it out.
Obong converted a spot kick and Jason Kay gave Atherton hope with a simple header after 69 minutes but the Rams killed the game off when another Gardiner run resulted in a glorious chip in the final minute.
