BURY'S pitch is hampering the club's attempts to pull clear of the Third Division relegation battle, according to manager Graham Barrow.
The Shakers boss was critical of the Gigg Lane surface, which cut up during Tuesday's 1-1 draw with relegation rivals Southend United.
He believes his side would benefit from a smoother surface and has immediate concerns about the pitch as his inconsistent team has home matches against Third Division rivals Darlington and Leyton Orient in the next seven days.
"I don't want to go on about this and I don't want to point fingers at people, but the pitch isn't good enough," Barrow said.
"I'll probably have people staring at me and giving me dirty looks for saying it, but you cannot pass the ball properly on this pitch."
