IN April Howe Bridge Scouts and Guides are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the opening of their Leigh Road headquarters.
The group's honorary president Elsie Hulme, who will have completed 40 years with the movement in April -- 36 of them as secretary -- recalls the building cost £22,250. It was built after 10 years fund-raising following an estimate of £2,250 for a smaller, new building which was earmarked for a site opposite St Michael's Church.
"At our anniversary reunion on Saturday, April 3 and we expect a gathering of many friends and a lot of memorabilia to mark the group's history," said Mrs Hulme.
If you would like to attend, or have any photographs or items relating to the group, contact Mrs Hulme on 01942 874988.
