LUKE Chadwick is convinced he still has a big part to play in Burnley's season.
The on-loan Manchester United winger has been forced to watch from the dug-out in recent weeks as the improving Clarets continue to nudge their way towards safety.
Chadwick was a substitute for the sixth successive game in Tuesday's well-deserved draw at Reading, which leaves Stan Ternent's side still unbeaten in the league this year with March looming.
But Chadwick is confident that when his chance comes, he can step up and carry on the good work.
He said: "I'm sure my chance will come, but with the lads doing so well it's not happening at the moment.
"The gaffer is looking to play with just one wide player and Glen Little is playing so well right now that I haven't had a look in for a while.
"It's disappointing because any player will tell you he wants to play, but the gaffer has quite a few flair players.
"Glen and Robbie Blake are both making things happen and Ian Moore is working hard up front, so all three are doing well and however frustrating that might be for me, I have to accept it.
"The results have been good and that justifies the manager's decision. I just have to keep going and wait for my chance."
That may finally arrive on Saturday as Burnley face a potential midfield crisis for the trip to Millwall.
Tony Grant is suspended along with Paul Weller, who was sent off the last time the Clarets entered the Lions Den 12 days ago for the ill-fated FA Cup tie.
And with both Richard Chaplow and Neil Wood fighting injuries to thigh and knee respectively, the Clarets could be counting numbers in just 48 hours.
Bradley Orr is certain to make his first start since arriving on loan from Newcastle, and Chadwick is waiting to get the nod should either Chaplow or Wood fail to make it.
The winger, who is enjoying a year-long loan from Manchester United, said: "The toe injury I had earlier this season is fine now and I'm fully fit and looking to get a game.
"Millwall are a good team and it's a tough place to go, but they have a couple of suspensions and Daniele Dichio is out, so hopefully we can overturn that FA Cup defeat.
"We had the chances last time we were there, and we need to keep this unbeaten run going.
"The results we've had this year have been good and even a 2-2 draw at Reading, despite the circumstances, is still a good point.
"There's enough confidence in the camp to keep clear of the relegation zone and if we can keep going, there's every chance of getting towards the middle of the table.
"Anyone can beat anyone in this league and if you can get on a winning run together you can be right up there.
"We are playing well and the defence has really tightened up. That is giving us more chance to win games, so we are definitely looking above us, rather than below."
Burnley reserves scheduled home game with Tranmere last night was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
