SHAKERLEY'S OK reckon a youthful team from the Tyldesley estate who joined graffiti artist Scott Winstanley and community policewoman Vicki Handley to transform a 30ft wall into a masterpiece warning about the dangers of drug abuse.
Project originator PC Handley said: "The project delivers a positive message, enabling young people to take pride in the area in which they live. Hopefully the art initiative will go some way to building bridges with local residents and improving the surrounding area."
The Cumberland Avenue mural is aimed at getting message about the danger of drug abuse across to everyone and will inspire others to get involved with projects in their community.
Chris Wyatt, Arts Development Officer for Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust said: "Our philosophy is to help groups in positive activities and this art project will leave a lasting legacy for children on the Shakerley Estate."
The mural has been funded by Wigan Leisure and Cultural Trust.
