BLACKBURN under-14s made a quick return to winning ways when they beat local rivals Bolton 2-1 in their challenge match at Pleasington.

The two teams cancelled each other out in a goalless first half, but Blackburn broke the deadlock eight minutes after the break when Danny Pilkington shot home from the edge of the box.

Robert Walsh added the second with a superb individual goal but Bolton stormed back forcing Blackburn deep into the own half late in the game.

Paul Williams went close with a fierce 30-yard shot and Grundy forced a fine save from the Blackburn keeper in the last minute but the home side held out to record a 2-1 win.

All Blackburn's town teams are in action this weekend with the under-12s, under-13, under-14s and under-15s all entertaining Barnsley at Pleasington on Saturday (10.30).

Pendle under-15s are still in line for a Lancashire Schools' League Cup play-off place after holding Blackpool to a 1-1 draw.

The home side went in front on the half hour mark but Pendle equalised five minutes later when Scott Metcalfe lobbed the keeper from 12 yards.

Goalkeeper Leon Hartley made a couple of fine saves from the lively Blackpool strikers late in the game and Pendle missed a great opportunity to clinch all the points when Paul Finnegan failed to score from close range in the dying minutes.

Pendle have another Lancashire League match this weekend when they take on Hyndburn at Barnoldswick School on Saturday (10.30).

Rossendale under-15s were also celebrating after winning their first league match of the season after beating Lancaster and Morecambe 1-0 at Fearns High School.

Matthew Dunn scored the winner 20 minutes into the second half.

KNUZDEN Youth went out of the cup in the VMI Accrington Junior League's under-12 section by the odd goal in 11 to Ossy Juniors at the Heys.

It was a very entertaining contest and Knuzden's goals went to joint top scorers Ricky McGrew (2) and a hat-trick from Sam Clarke.

Knuzden's man of the match was awarded to midfielder Nathan Davies, who was outstanding.
