YOUNG composer Nichola Holt scored a success when members of a prestigious army band played her composition.
Sixteen-year-old Nichola heard her A-Level brass quartet piece played by the King's Division Normandy Band as part of their concert at Bury Grammar School.
The event, which raised around £800 for the Army Benevolent Fund, also included The William Tell Overture and a medley of George Gershwin classics.
It followed an afternoon workshop in which around 30 members of the school's concert band were given tips on live performances.
They joined the Army band to perform before a packed hall including members of the public.
Entertainments co-ordinator Yvonne Hanham said: "Nichola was particularly thrilled to have these wonderful musicians to play her piece, but it was such a good experience for all our band members as well."
