TESCO stores in the borough are hoping to till up a healthy total for Bury Hospice.
The supermarket chain has launched its Time To Care appeal by naming the "Help the Hospices" movement as its charity of the year.
This will mean the proceeds of staff fund-raising activities in Tesco stores throughout Bury will go to the hospice in Dumers Lane in Radcliffe.
The supermarket outlets involved are at Woodfield retail park and Bury New Road, Prestwich, together with its Express stores in Bolton Road, and Brandlesholme Road.
Nationally, Tesco has set a fund-raising target of £3million for its 750 stores.
Lucy Neville Rolfe, Tesco's group director of corporate affairs, said: "We hope that the money raised by our staff and suppliers will go some way to help ensure the ongoing work of the hospice movement, which provides care and support to those with, and the families of those with, life-threatening illnesses."
Money raised will receive a 20 per cent top-up from the Tesco Charity Trust.
