A WOMAN who drove 102mph in a 60mph limit was allowed to keep her licence after magistrates heard it was her first speeding offence in a driving career that covered more than a quarter of a million miles.
Diane Young, 32, of Birdybrow, Chaigley, near Clitheroe, was fined £200 and her licence endorsed with six penalty points after pleading guilty to speeding as she travelled up Sawley Brow on the A59.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said Young had been driving a friend's BMW and the sensation of speed was different to that experienced when driving her Honda. Mr Church-Taylor said Young had been driving as part of her employment for at least 10 years, travelling at least 25,000 miles a year.
