A KNIGHT, a police chief and a council boss rolled up their sleeves during an election count.
Sir Bill Taylor, manager of the Ribble Valley Youth and Community Service, Inspector Bob Ford, of Clitheroe Police, and Dave Morris, Ribble Valley Council chief executive, counted ballot papers at the Ribble Valley Youth Parliament elections.
Polling stations were set up at selected Ribble Valley secondary schools and nearly 3,000 youngsters took their pick from 14 candidates for a representative on the UK Youth Parliament.
Officers from Ribble Valley Council and the Lancashire Youth Service manned the polling stations and the count was held in the Ribble Valley Council Chamber.
The winner was 12-year-old Longridge High School pupil Rebecca Lindsay.
Ribble Valley policy development officer Bill Alker said: "The election generated a great deal of interest and attracted a fifty-eight per cent turnout, which is fantastic.
"We would particularly like to thank our tellers, Bill Taylor, Bob Ford and Dave Morris, for helping to make it such a fabulous night."
