CHARITY cyclists from Malta honoured Stonyhurst College, in the Ribble Valley, when the headmaster visited the island.
Adrian Aylward was presented with a commemorative certificate by Alan Curry, the organiser of the Braveheart Life Cycle Challenge fund raising tour of Britain, in recognition of the support the college gave during the project. The cyclists stayed at the college at the beginning and end of the tour and, in addition to the certificate, Mr Curry also handed over a copy of the video of the marathon ride. In return Mr Aylward presented Mr Curry with a Stonyhurst plaque.
The headmaster was visiting to promote the college to the island's Catholic community and meet former pupils, parents and friends of the college.
He was accompanied by Michael Higgins, the head of the college's prep school, St Mary's Hall, and his wife Clare, curator Jan Graffius, chaplain Fr Michael Power, and Stonyhurst Association secretary Adrian Bidwell.
Stonyhurst College hosted 28 cyclists and back up crew who raised thousands of pounds to help Maltese people with kidney disease and to raise awareness of Malta's Organ Transplant Support Group.
