PRESTWICH police station has been turned into an Aladdin's cave of treasures.
The haul of stolen goods, amounting to items valued at about £15,000, was recently recovered by officers following a spate of burglaries in the area. Now officers are appealing for the rightful owners to come forward and claim their possessions.
Insp David Jones, head of Prestwich and Whitefield Township, said: "We have a room full of stuff and no owners. The goods were recovered by officers last week after we made a number of arrests in connection with burglaries in Prestwich. There are some everyday goods like television sets, but also some quite expensive ornaments."
The haul includes ornaments, television sets, mini hi-fis, bicycles and some distinctive wooden carvings.
If anyone has been burgled in the last six to eight weeks and thinks their stolen goods could be any of the ones listed, they should contact Prestwich Police Station on a special number, 0161 856 4542.
Insp Jones added: "I am pleased we have made the arrests and hopefully the burglaries will stop in Prestwich. Now we want to trace as many owners as possible and return their goods to them."
