BRIGHT sparks are being urged to see the light!
Residents are invited to swap old fashioned, energy-sapping filament light bulbs with brand new, state-of-the-art energy efficient ones. For Bury Council is giving them away for free!
A similar 2-4-1 event at the council's Energy Show House last year attracted dozens of visitors and the offer is being repeated again this month, and until stocks last, for callers to the Energy Show House in Parsonage Street, Bury.
Anyone who takes in an ordinary light bulb, still in working order, will in return receive two energy-efficient light bulbs which use only around a fifth of the electricity of a traditional bulb.
In addition, visitors can also use their visit to the Show House as an opportunity to get the expert and totally free lowdown on a heap of energy-saving ideas.
Staff at the Show House can advise on all kinds of energy-saving measures which are good for the environment as well as people's pockets. There is information on grants and schemes to help people insulate their home or on renewable energy systems such as solar panels and home wind turbines.
And visitors can take a tour of the Energy Show House to learn about how they can save money on their fuel bills and make their homes warmer.
The Bury Council Energy Show House is open on Tuesdays (4pm to 7pm), Wednesdays (1.30pm to 4:30pm) and Fridays (9:30am to 12.30pm). Telephone enquiries can be made to Gwyn McCarthy, energy officer (any day of the week) on 0161 253 6366 or to Andrew Hunt, East Bury energy officer (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays) on 0161 253 6367.
