THE elderly in our community seem to have been given the 'short end of the stick.' Although I am in my mid-40s, I feel that the older generation have got through more problems than even myself or my children could ever contemplate.
They have suffered wars and food rationing and now have to succumb to Council Tax and reduced pensions. Some have lost loved ones during the War and also some have been evacuated. But they come back fighting.
I've always told my children about how I grew up and they still remember. So, what I say now is, respect your elders -- you can learn so much!
