PENDLE MP Gordon Prentice is backing a new 'Right to Read' campaign to ensure that people with impaired sight and spelling problems don't miss out on books.
He said too many disabled people are excluded from reading.
He is backing the establishment of a new Access to Reading Fund to support the publication of large print and other special books for those with sight problems.
The Labour back bencher said: "There are many thousands of people with sight problems who are unable to read standard print books, magazines and newspapers.
"Many more have reading disabilities such as dyslexia.
"The campaign, which is backed by 15 organisations including The Royal National Institute for the Blind, The National Library for the Blind and the British Dyslexia Association, wants to see funding to increase the amount of material available to people with disabilities.
"The establishment of an Access to Reading Fund to support the production of more material would be a big step to helping those who cannot read standard print books.
"I want to make sure that no-one is denied the opportunity to read either for study or pleasure," he added.
