A DISQUALIFIED driver caught behind the wheel was said to have told police: "I know I'm banned."
Burnley magistrates heard how Mark McConnell, 20, later claimed he had said: "I know I am bad."
McConnell, of Glenroy Avenue, Colne, admitted driving while disqualified, and two allegations of having no insurance and no test certificate. He was bailed until March 3 for a pre-sentence report.
John Rusius, defending, said McConnell had no previous convictions for driving while disqualified and thought his ban had ended.
He had been doing repair work on a friend's car and drove it around the block. His solicitor told the court McConnell had not been driving at 100mph, knocking people down or joyriding.
He added the defendant was currently working for his father and was trying to get full employment.
