A 31-YEAR-OLD woman was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary after a lamp-post crashed on to her car roof.
The Blackburn woman, who has not been identified, was driving on Yew Tree Drive, Blackburn, towards Preston when she lost control of her Roadster sports car.
Ambulance staff and police said conditions on the road were treacherous due to bad weather conditions, although the road had been gritted.
Ian Barton, assistant operations manager for East Lancashire, said: "She lost control and hit a lamp-post, which fell down and trapped her in the car.
"The lamp-posts are designed to collapse when falling down which minimised the damage in what could have been a more serious accident.
"Luck was very much on her side."
The woman remained fully conscious and was treated for possible neck and spinal injuries.
Fire crews also assisted the ambulance crews by ensuring the scene was safe and lifting the lamp-post to enable paramedics to treat her.
The woman was taken to hospital after the crash at around 9am but later released.
Police closed the Preston-bound carriageway for an hour while the woman was freed and the vehicle removed.
