SUPERFIT Swimmer Lyndon Morris and his friends are hoping to go the distance when they take part in a swimathon for Macmillan Cancer Relief in the Butlin's Swimathon.
Lyndon, 38, an electrical retailer at Fairbrother Appliances, Whalley Banks, Blackburn, and his colleague Doug Newton, 37, of Dean Sreet, Darwen, will be joining forces with fellow Shadsworth Leisure Centre swimmer Andy Clarkson to swim 5,000 metres at the All Seasons leisure centre, Chorley.
Lyndon, of Woodlands Avenue, Cherry Tree, said: "On a normal swim we would usually do about 20 to 30 lengths but recently we have been training hard and have been doing about 100 lengths each session so we are pretty confident.
"We have donated to charity before but have never done anything like this but we're good swimmers so we are hoping to raise as much money as we can and have asked companies we deal with on a regular basis to sponsor us."
Lyndon, Doug and Andy train for an hour every Tuesday and Wednesday night. Their 5,000m swim, which is 200 lengths of a 25- metre pool or the equivalent of 13 laps of an Olympic-sized running track, will take place at Chorley on March 20 at 3pm.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Lyndon and his friends can call him on 01254 661250.
