LECTURERS at East Lancashire colleges were protesting over new contracts, despite a Court of Appeal ruling that they could not strike.
Staff at Accrington and Rossendale College formed peaceful 'protest lines' at the main gates to voice their anger at the decision, which they claimed was an attack on trades union rights.
Lancashire's motorway police unveiled their new high visibility patrol cars and were dubbed 'battenburg bobbies' because of the large blue and yellow reflective squares down the side.
