A MOTORIST whose foot slipped on to the accelerator instead of the brake smashed into the window of a carpet shop after colliding with another car being driven by a Clitheroe motorist.
Stewart Hays, 21, from Nelson, was driving on Active Way, near St James's Street, Burnley, when the accident happened.
As he approached the roundabout, his foot slipped on to the accelerator of his maroon Ford Fiesta and hit another car before going into the window of Carpet City, police said.
The car he collided with, a Peugeot driven by 51-year-old Lesley Livesey, from Clitheroe, which went into a third car, a silver Honda Accord, driven by Razza Hussain, 31, from Nelson.
Mr Hays was taken to Burnley General Hospital by his mother, suffering from shock but he was not detained. The other two drivers were not injured.
The incident happened at around 8.35am on Friday.
