THE Fylde's civil servants are hoping for further talks with management after a two day walk-out by union members last week.
Picket lines appeared at Blackpool's Warbreck Hill and Norcross sites and strikes affected Peel Park, Lytham St Annes and a handful of other Lancashire sites after Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) members went on strike over wages and pay scales. Martin Jones, chairman of the PCS' Fylde Coast, Preston and Filestores Branch, said: "It went very well. The picket lines weren't huge but we had a reasonable presence. "The management have been in contact with our general secretary and they have now offered that they are willing to go to ACAS." PCS represents more than 2000 civil servants across the Fylde Coast and Preston. Mr Jones said members are also in favour of further industrial action short of a strike, such as an overtime ban or withdrawal of goodwill. A spokesman for the DWP said: "We delivered a near normal service last week using contingency plans to ensure that our customers continued to receive payments on which they depend. We remain open to negotiations to avoid further industrial action."
